Betting on Yourself

When is the last time you took a risk and bet on yourself? Maybe it’s been a while. Or maybe it sounds super scary and you are intentionally avoiding the subject at every turn. Certainly understandable. However, you might be missing out on fulfillment and joy in your own life.

Recently, Kate Elliott shared her story of betting on herself with the launch of Koti Design Co. In fact, she took a leap from roles in the Tech industry to lean into her creativity through home staging and interior styling. Ironically, she found the skills she used in previous roles applicable to her business.

Don’t miss Betting on Yourself.

And if you missed the last post, check out the reflection on Decision Making and Accountability in Teens. The mental load on parents as we shift into teenage years. In this reflection, it became apparent there suddenly feels like a lot of pressure on the lessons taught in decision making and the foundation of accountability.

WELCOME!

Motherhood is a crazy journey in self-doubt and uncertainty. As a result, I find myself wishing ON THE REGULAR for a non-existent manual. A few years ago, this prompted me to begin sharing pieces of my story from the vantage point as Lowey Fraternity House President. Pranks, chaos, sports every night, mom meltdowns, laughs... we've got a bit of it all going on over here.

Then an evolution of The Mom Huddle began. Women with amazing stories just waiting to be shared began emerging everywhere. Moreover, I had the platform to do just that! Inspiring women through story telling.

At the core of it, I am convinced we can all be our own version of successful. Furthermore, it's WAY MORE FUN to do this motherhood thing surrounded by a supportive team. Therefore, let's enjoy the perfectly imperfect moments in The Mom Huddle!

Subscribe to share in the craziness of motherhood and feel part of our team. We definitely don't have all the answers (I mean, who does?!). Even so, knowing someone else shares moments of mom guilt and has similar thoughts and feelings creates a community. Welcome and enjoy!

Betting on Yourself

Betting on Yourself

You know how sometimes you get a vibe from someone, and you just want to hang out more? Maybe it was the betting on yourself approach she took in her career path, but the vibe is exactly what happened for me with Kate Elliott, founder of Koti Design Co! In fact, a few weeks later as I sat in a coffee shop listening to more of her story on entrepreneurship, motherhood, career leaps, raising teens and ALL the topics, there were MULTIPLE moments of complete laughter where I almost blurted out, “did we just become new best friends?!?!”...

Decision Making and Accountability in Teens

Decision Making and Accountability in Teens

Recently, Merril Hoge posted thoughts on LinkedIn about raising kids: “I have always felt that I am my kids’ time machine. I know what is ahead of them – the temptations and the challenges – and I know what skills they will need to make good decisions. My job is to equip them with that resourcefulness by getting them involved in the decision-making process and then holding them accountable for what they decide.” As I read this, I literally was thinking – YES. This. This is what it is. PREACH! First, let me back up. My boys are...

Community Impact Digitized

Community Impact Digitized

Community impact is at the core of Gisele Garraway’s story and heart. In fact, she found a way to create community impact digitized through her non-profit THRIVEfunds. If you find yourself in a space of craving a community, read on to be inspired to do so. On the other hand, if you feel blessed with a wonderful community already, enjoy a beautiful story about impact, motherhood ups and downs, as well as the quest to raise good humans. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I LOVE hearing people’s stories. Particularly women...

Trip Around the Sun Reflection

Trip Around the Sun Reflection

Recently, I turned the page from 43 to 44 years old. Another full trip around the sun complete. In other words, an opportunity for reflection. Frankly, it’s bonkers to think I’m 44. On one hand, I don’t feel a day older than 22. Conversely, my back aches say otherwise. Can you relate?  Because of this, I thought I’d share reflection on a few things that feel like newer lessons for me as I “age into wisdom.” Is that actually a thing? In all seriousness though, I feel like I’m learning more now than I ever have before. Likely because...

The Power of Boundaries

The Power of Boundaries

Forgiveness, Empathy, Self-Care, and the Power of Boundaries. To meet Sarah is to feel kindness. Deep within her eyes, you get an immediate sense of empathy and understanding. In fact, she has the keen ability to pick up on the signs of someone struggling. Sarah’s approach is simple yet impactful. Tell me what’s really going on and there’s no judgement. Even with this incredible ability to empathize, which she credits to her mom and step dad as well as a ton of life experiences, Sarah admits the empathy pendulum swings too far...

Single Mother by Choice

Single Mother by Choice

In life, there are people who sit back and wait for things to happen. Conversely, there are those who act. Utilizing their own agency. Furthermore, feeling at choice when others may not see a path. Julie had enough of waiting for all the “right” things to fall into place to start her family. Instead, knowing her desire to be a mother, she chose single mother by choice. As a result, she utilized a donor to bring her perfect little boy Ben into the world. Everyone has a story to share. This is no different in Julie’s case. Ironically,...
